Base, drainage and caps
A solid retaining wall needs a compacted gravel base, gravel backfill for drainage behind it, and often a buried first course. Cap blocks and construction adhesive finish the top. Walls over about 3–4 feet usually need engineering and a permit — check local rules before you build. We add 5% for breakage.
